So…Junior Year

Junior year starts tomorrow. That is absolutely bizarre.

Me Wishing For A Good Year

Just yesterday I was a little annoying freshie, running in the hallways and pissing off my director. Now, I’ll be a Junior, walking very quickly down the halls and only occasionally (hopefully) pissing off my director.

In all seriousness, though, I’m quite excited for this year. Anxious? Always. But also very, very excited, which is new. I’ve never been very VERY excited for school.

But this year, I’m going in with a new high. I’ve always gone in hopeful and ready, but this year I’m going in with intention. I know exactly what I want and how I’m gonna get it.

Summer 2019 brought me friends, faith in the universe, and ambition. It amplified dreams of mine that I didn’t know I could have, and brought me assurance that anything I wanted to do, I could if I put in the work.

I don’t feel like I’m going in alone this year, either. I’ve got a whole army going in by my side and I’m going in with theirs too. I’ve got my sad chumps, I’ve got 2019, and best of all, I’ve got all of you.

I can never tell who’s reading and who’s keeping track of all my posts, the statistics are a lot broader than that. But, I find that it makes me comfortable enough to write anything. For some reason, explaining and sharing something to the masses is a lot less scary than telling someone one on one. So seeing all of the viewers and reads gives me the sense that I’ve got somebody on my side. Thanks for that.

This year, I’m going in with a head full of knowledge and the hope that I’ll gain a lot more. Considering what I’ve learned about myself this summer, and what I’ve learned about others along the way, I’ve created a list of goals for this year. It’s something I want to share with all of you, that way I’ll actually make an attempt to stick to it.

Kate’s Junior Year Promises:

  • Go To Games. More Than Two
  • Attend Homecoming. Have Fun With It.
  • Get More Into Behind-The-Scenes Roles In Drama
  • Start And Finish The Super-Secret-Project-I’ll-Tell-Y’all-About-Later
  • Find Moments Of Beauty And Bliss
  • Keep The Notebook Collection At A Low
  • Keep The Mini Pumpkin Collection At A High
  • Ensure The Safety Of My Succulents
    • Which reminds me that I have to repot them, oops.
  • Get At Least A B In All Academic Classes
    • We’ve got a lot of AP’s this year and I’m not trying to burn out.
  • Get A’s In Aerobics And Drama
  • Start Vocal Lessons
  • Incorporate More Of My Passions Outside Of School
  • Learn How To Drive (preferably without giggling the whole time)
  • Get A Job With/Volunteer For Something In My Field Of Interest.
  • Get Serious About A Lot Of Things Really Fast
  • Have A Blast

I’m only 15 for a few more months, and though it’s not much of a change, 16 scares the absolute heck out of me. 16/17 is when all of the big, movie-moment, life-altering things start happening, and I don’t know whether to be excited or anxious about it. I’ll just decide to be both.

Though I’m still figuring a few things out, there’s some stuff I already know that this year will be committed to. And those are, in no particular order:

  • College (SATs, ACTs, Top Schools, Recommendations, Volunteer Hours, etc.)
  • Saving Money For And Finishing The Super-Secret-Project-I’ll-Tell-Y’all-About-Later
  • Getting A Job And Making A Plan
  • Letting Me Be Me

With those in mind, I’ve got an update for y’all!

Considering the crazy schedule I’ll be enduring for the next few months, I’ve finally bargained with myself about blog posts! Keeping with some of the stats and when it seems to be the busiest day for foot traffic here on Writer’s Cup Of Tea, I’ve decided to implement a schedule that should catch you guys when you’ve got the time and shouldn’t drive me completely insane!

The new schedule for this upcoming school year (with the exception of this week) will be Sundays and Mondays!

Sundays will usually keep with the theme of Show Tune Sundays, and Wednesdays will be whatever I feel like!

For this week, I’ll check back on Friday and start the new schedule this Sunday!

That’s all for today folks! I’m so excited for the beginning of a new year (though I wish it wasn’t starting tomorrow) and I’m even more excited to share it with y’all! I hope you stick around for the ride.

I’ll be back on Friday with an update and then Sunday with all the Broadway show goodness!

Until then!
